Do Children Deserve a Fair Start in Life? Why Equity Must Override Legal Formalism

Do you believe children deserve a fair start in life? Prioritizing that is the most effective way to ensure a better world.

The idea of an equity override is about putting fairness at the center when the strict letter of the law falls short. At the World Court hearing where climate change was described as an “urgent and existential threat, ”an equity override would allow the Court to look beyond technical legalities and focus on what is right and just, especially for those most affected.

This approach would empower the Court to prioritize justice over rigid legal formalism, reinforcing demands like those of Fair Start: that historical emitters must take the lead in mitigation and support.  Equity overrides shifts the conversation from narrow legal obligations to broader moral responsibilities, centering principles like climate finance, loss and damage reparations, and Fair Start development pathways.

(For information on Fair Star’s planned research in the context of vulnerability theory, read more here).

For the Global South, this isn’t just about legal recognition–it’s about survival, dignity, and the right to a future shaped by justice rather than inherited crisis.

The Problem: Equitywashing and the Legacy of Power

Any value or impact claim made today is likely out of context because it ignores the radically unequal conditions children face at birth. This goes beyond greenwashing to a more fundamental or first order problem  – equitywashing: the hiding of illegitimate, inequitable, and birth-based power relations that ensure defining standards like “green” in a way that enriches some at deadly cost others, and causes the climate crisis.

Equitywashing stems from the historic subversion of racial and social justice movements in the Twentieth Century through policies that privatized family planning and thus the fundamental creation of power relations, rather than making the process equitable or empowering. This sleight of hand and power grab enabled wealthy families and governments to assume authority and and entitlements without legitimacy. They redefined the idea of freedom from power as freedom from the coercion of the state rather than the ability to consent to any influence of others, and using unsustainable and inequitable reproductive rights standards designed to enrich some children at deadly cost to others. The move ensured most people would assume freedom was the absence of government coercion, when that power actually originated in the creation of birth and development positionality/power relations

Those policies led to systems of subjective valuation that hid impacts on objective values like infant health and equity, and ensured the world overshot key thresholds within less than a few generations leading to the climate and political crises we see today. Overshoot was thus essentially the illegal shifting of power.

The standards took the idea of bodily autonomy outside of one’s political equity (accounting for all measures determining that equity and the emancipation it implies), or one’s capacity to influence outcomes that influence them, disenfranchising people. For example, many companies and nonprofit organizations use cost/benefit business models that treat  infant victims of the climate crisis as equally self-determining as those who benefited the most from it. These models  ignore those infants’ overriding right to equity resources/reparations as the basis of political obligation and state legitimacy. Such frameworks are not just unethical, they are unlawful,, and potentially actionable  under unfair competition laws.

This is not about “population control”, but empowerment: is your political “we” legitimate or built under the latter. Our supposed freedom becomes a mechanism for others’ wealth.

Here’s one example: under current legal frameworks, even the most liberal ones—a woman terminating a pregnancy is considered autonomous. Yet if she later dies in a heatwave because she couldn’t influence her government to act, what kind of autonomy is that? She wasn’t free—she was positioned that way by illegitimate standards that valued her life incorrectly–-she was treated as an economic input.

The victim would have been taught and likely assumed that she had just been unlucky in her being born without wealth, when in fact she would have had the right to derive her obligation to the political system and condition her compliance with the law, on the state reversing that state of affairs. She was never free because she was never physically empowered, and in that situation, there would have actually been little reason to follow the rules. What went wrong? She was slowly being disenfranchised. Her freedom was taken out of context, and valued incorrectly, as governments began their worth with the injustice of an illegal birth lottery.

A split infographic compares Current Family Planning with Fair Start Family Planning, listing differences in welfare, equality, and environmental protection for children, while highlighting how practices like legitimacywashing can undermine genuine progress.

    The Consequences: Systemic Disenfranchisement

For decades equity fraud standards have treated children of color as worth exponentially fewer resources and more risk. In doing so, these standards gutted the very idea of equity—equal power to shape the political and economic systems that determine our lives

The Solution: A Preemptive Right to Equity-Reparations

NGOs should have always used measurable birth-based political equity as their guidestar, not sustainability – not sustaining the commercialized democracy approach that created Trump.

There is a big difference. Where else does national legitimacy, and the authority to entitle wealth, come from if not birth equity?

Here is one way to pivot to justice and a form of equity that overrides competing values given that the future majority need freedom, and outnumber those alive today:

    fairstartmovement.org

Many are already taking wealth that externalized its costs onto children and using it to fund (via “legitimations”) collective family planning unions that expect government and the wealthy to treat their authority and entitlements as contingent on actually empowering constituents rather than exploiting them for more growth.

There is a preemptive right to equity-based reparations, payable to more collective systems of family planning that guarantee every child a fair start.. Governments must derive their authority and legitimacy from the measurable empowerment, or political equity (equal offsets, relative to zero), of its constituents. That means no child should be born beneath the “legitimacy line”—the threshold of self-determination and necessary resources.

The only viable reform tactic? Fact-value checking—securing public admissions of truth and formal commitments to change. This kind of discourse doesn’t just inform policy; it creates obligation. It builds the foundation for truly self-determining lives.

Free people follow laws only when the system empowers them. Any governance model that ignores how birth conditions impact one’s capacity for self-determination is not empowering—it is disenfranchising.

This is not about mere intersectionality. It’s about unifying obligation and asserting the preemptive principle: governments cannot unilaterally define empowerment. Empowerment is measurable. And a just society must begin by measuring what truly matters.

Obligation, not intersectionality. This is about preemption – governments can’t define what it means to be empowered. That is an objectively measurable thing.

Children’s Rights Must Not Be Overlooked.

Rejoice Africa Foundation, on behalf of a coalition of organizations, groups, and movements and voiceless from afflicted communities from Africa and India is calling on many United States attorneys generals – under their international law obligations – to reorient the business model in the Coke/Fairlife litigation that treated children of color as deserving exponentially less than white children and hid the harm it was causing them.

That model is costing millions of lives and trillions of dollars.

This violated human rights laws and is equity fraud – it’s using the same fundamentally fraudulent metrics that caused the climate crisis to evade liability for it. This was the biggest cause of the case’s harm, and using that standard did more harm than good.

The standard is illegal because it allows the use of those terms for practices that violate child welfare, environmental, civil rights, and the law of democracy.

Two panels compare family planning types. Left: diverse family illustration with bright colors, labeled Fair Start family planning with positive points. Right: grayscale crowd in a city, labeled Economic growth-based family planning with negative points.

Coke/fair was used on manufactured numbers to get to particular targeted results that are illegal, and we have testimony in Affidavit before the African Union it’s done elsewhere and it’s common but it’s not easy to challenge because also government and companies are busy making these numbers to benefit but people and animals are losing this in the system enriched them to an unsustainable which caused inequality, injustices and emotions. The assessment of equality, humane and ecosystem of the harm was based on high numbers and false pledges.

Victims are suffering from a climate crisis that was not caused as a result of wealthy people hiding from the truth that deepens the vulnerability.

Severe climate related issues that disrupt ecosystems, economies and livelihood. These shocks can be caused by extreme weather changes such as droughts, floods and heat waves which often lead to devastating consequences like food insecurity, displacement, diseases, injustices and poverty.

Vulnerable communities like the global south, climate shock worsen food insecurity, malnutrition and poverty. These impacts are often intensified by global factors including emissions and unsustainable practices from the global north that contribute to harsh climatic changes. The hardships are seen through erratic rainfall, prolonged droughts, diseases and poverty. Global north companies continue to concentrate on wealthy accumulation through doing business that pollutes the environment of innocent people and are affected more compared to the wealthy people.

Informational flyer shows statistics about the benefits of family planning, emphasizing reduced climate impact, lower extinction rates, financial returns, and improved women’s education. The flyer promotes child-first family planning.

Harsh climate change impacts the global south causing devastating losses of homes, livelihood and cultural heritage. Many victims face relentless disasters with little support and hence resort to self-denial as a coping mechanism. Reducing emotions becomes a survival strategy in the situation of unacknowledged suffering, systemic neglect and overwhelming reality of an uncertain future. This emotional challenge cannot be bearable therefore victims have heard enough silent cry for justice, equality and urgent climate action but voices have been undermined or not heard because of the top line system.

This self-denial has fueled deep anger among global south victims who bear the brunt of the crisis did not create.

Displacement, food insecurity, diseases and poverty intensifies the frustration especially as the global north continues unsustainable practices with minimal accountability. This anger is not personal, it is a collective, directed at systemic injustices, broken/empty pledges and the failure of global leaders / United Nations to act decisively. Therefore it is a powerful selfless force driving climate activism in demanding reparations while pushing for urgent equitable solutions using Fair Start Movement standards.

Faced with harsh realities of climate changes, few victims in the global south are starting negotiations/bargaining. Victims seek global north to invert, accept climate error, policy change and act as obligations. This emotional response based on victims attempting to secure survival in an unjust system without meaning global actions and fear negotiations remain one sided leaving victims  continue struggling for the solutions in the crisis not created by victims.

A growing threat loomed based on plastic pollution where used bottles from Coca-Cola poorly disposed of into the environment and acted as vector hiding breeding areas for mosquitoes and children were sick of malaria and some died of malaria. Then garbage was full of plastic bottles and then washed away by rain into the water sources near and ended affecting aquatic animals like fish, also reduced the volume of water sources and contributed to water contamination.

Climate had also grown unpredictable, Rainfall patterns shifted causing prolonged droughts that wilted the once flourishing kitchen gardens and women struggled to water vegetables in the kitchen gardens but the plastic waste bottles reduced the volume of water and leading to the drying up of near water sources then women had to fetch water for irrigation from long distance 1 kilometer and this reduced the yield of vegetables from kitchen gardens.

And also this drought affected animals. Domestic animals that feed on grass and shrubs and also on water animals could go long distances looking for water and grass, and some animals could die of hunger and water scarcity.

Artificial Intelligence Can Do Basic Political Math.

According to a ChatGPT chat on February 7, 2025:

Population growth has significant implications for political equity, vote dilution, and political representation, particularly in democratic systems. Here’s how:

    1. Political Equity
    • As populations grow, ensuring fair representation becomes more challenging. In rapidly growing areas, political districts may become imbalanced, leading to underrepresentation.
    • Resources, infrastructure, and government services may not keep pace with population increases, disproportionately affecting marginalized communities.
    1. Vote Dilution
    • Vote dilution occurs when the voting power of individuals or groups is weakened, often due to redistricting or changes in population density.
    • If districts are not redrawn regularly to reflect population shifts, some areas may become overrepresented while others become underrepresented.
    • In some cases, intentional gerrymandering can exacerbate vote dilution by manipulating district boundaries to favor one political party or demographic group over another.
    1. Political Representation
    • Legislative bodies often have fixed numbers of seats, meaning fast-growing areas may be underrepresented until district lines are redrawn.
    • Minority and marginalized groups may struggle to maintain proportional representation if population growth skews the balance of political power.
    • At the national level, states with slower population growth may lose influence in bodies like the U.S. House of Representatives, which is based on population size.

A split infographic compares Current Family Planning with Fair Start Family Planning, listing differences in welfare, equality, and environmental protection for children, while highlighting how practices like legitimacywashing can undermine genuine progress.

    Potential Solutions

    • Redistricting reforms: Ensuring fair and regular redistricting based on updated census data can help maintain political equity.
    • Proportional representation: Systems that allocate seats based on vote share rather than winner-takes-all districts can reduce vote dilution.
    • Increased legislative representation: Expanding legislative bodies (such as adding seats to Congress) could help accommodate growing populations more fairly.

  • Report on Fertility Decline

    Report on Fertility Decline

Bob Sternfels and McKinsey & Company have released a report on fertility decline, lamenting its impact on economic growth. But here’s the problem: Their conclusions contradict the reality in places like Japan, where degrowth and strong economic performance coexist.

McKinsey is worth over $100 billion. Yet Sternfels and his firm are not just mistaken—they are actively concealing their liability for countless climate-related deaths. Their vast wealth was built on externalizing costs, benefiting from systems of entitlement that never accounted for the true costs of climate degradation, autocracy, and inequity.

    The Cost of Injustice

Sternfels and McKinsey’s economic analyses start with a fundamental violation: ignoring children’s right to a fair start in life. Their model assumes unsustainable growth, achieved by depriving children—especially children of color—of equitable resources and safety.

Their wealth came at the expense of our freedom—environmentally, socially, and politically. We feel those costs every day.

Justice cannot arise from injustice. No nation can claim legitimacy when it fails to ensure functional protections for children at birth. The economic growth McKinsey promotes is built on a foundation of exploitation, as identified by Nobel laureates. This model has contributed to millions of deaths worldwide.

McKinsey’s practices have degraded the Earth’s ability to support infant health while exacerbating inequity and political disenfranchisement. This loss of freedom is measurable through widely accepted sustainable development metrics.

A split infographic compares Current Family Planning with Fair Start Family Planning, listing differences in welfare, equality, and environmental protection for children, while highlighting how practices like legitimacywashing can undermine genuine progress.

    Accountability and Reparations

Sternfels and McKinsey did not create value; they extracted wealth by violating birthrights. They owe that wealth back. Redirecting even a portion of their wealth could save countless lives.

Sternfels and his family have benefited from privileges they have denied to others:

    1. Seeking minimum thresholds of personal welfare while allowing at-risk children to suffer preventable deprivation and abuse.
    2. Expecting equal access to opportunities while others remain trapped in systemic servitude due to birth disparities.
    3. Participating in political and legal systems that claim to represent all citizens while structurally silencing marginalized voices.
    4. Enjoying a safe and stable environment while others are born into the deadly consequences of environmental racism.
    5. Exercising reproductive choices in secure conditions while others face extreme risks and uncertainty.

This is not a partisan issue. We are all complicit in perpetuating systems that fail to fulfill children’s fundamental rights. No one can claim legitimacy while ignoring this foundational injustice. Denying this reality obscures liability for climate reparations that could save millions of lives.

    Sternfels: A “Legitimating Barrier”

Sternfels is what some call a key “legitimating barrier,” spreading misinformation to protect wealth that rightfully belongs to future generations. By doing so, he and McKinsey have done more to harm shared global values—such as access to clean air, water, and food—than to further them.

Sternfels has enriched his own children at the deadly cost of countless children of color. Extensive research suggests that this “death debt” could be inherited and enforced through crowdsourced mechanisms of accountability.

How Do We Hold McKinsey Accountable?

Many high-emission nations have been running fraudulent environmental and animal protection campaigns, claiming progress while emissions and negative infant outcomes continue to rise. These reductions have been nullified by growth-based political inequity, pushing more children and animals into conditions where they lack the resources to cope with worsening environmental crises.

Human birth and development shape all societal outcomes. It is the fundamental driver of the climate crisis—not just emissions, but also the political influence to control them and the resilience to survive them. Yet wealthy funders who drive social justice reforms continue to conceal their liability, costing millions of lives and trillions of dollars.

The Fair Start Movement operates as the world’s first constitutional watchdog to expose these systemic failures. Our mission is to fact-check public entities and interest organizations, assessing their claims against objective measures of political equity and democratic representation.

Challenging assumptions that hurt our future infographic

The Fair Start “Tell the Truth” Campaign

    Under this campaign, we:

    • Identify key influencers and separate them into those who uphold fairness and those who perpetuate inequity.
    • Demand full disclosure from individuals like Sternfels, contrasting their claimed impact with actual harm caused by violations of children’s rights.
    • Expose how unaccounted-for inequities have exacerbated global crises and undermined democratic legitimacy.

The Cost of Ignoring Growth and Inequity

For decades, nonprofits, media, and business leaders have crafted a fantasy of progress, preventing real climate reforms. This failure will kill millions.

Language matters. Freedom is impossible without truthfully acknowledging how we become legally obligated to others from birth. How can we claim to uphold justice without ensuring that all children are born and raised in conditions that respect their rights?

If McKinsey and Sternfels acknowledge their debt to future generations, they must act. The solution is simple: Shift a percentage of their wealth to fund measurably fair starts in life for all children. True legitimacy begins with rights-based relations, and our campaign exposes those who refuse to derive their authority from empowering all constituents equitably.

    Reality, equality, equity, and liberation

    Take Action

Urge Bob Sternfels to redo McKinsey’s fertility report—this time accounting for the true costs:

    • How children are born into conditions that violate their rights.
    • How inequity and climate degradation threaten infant health.
    • How political disenfranchisement prevents meaningful change.

In future reports, we will contrast the wealth Sternfels’ children enjoy with the deadly cost borne by countless children worldwide—so the full extent of his liability is clear to all.

  • Encouraging Wealthy Individuals to Support Care Groups for Family Planning and Reparations

Encouraging Wealthy Individuals to Support Care Groups for Family Planning and Reparations

Many organizations focus on reducing family size by promoting contraceptives, but they often overlook why parents make these choices. A better approach is encouraging people to join care groups, where they can learn about family planning benefits and see positive examples firsthand. These groups also provide essential resources like childcare, kitchen garden supplies, school fees, and materials—ensuring every child gets a fair start in life.

A New Way to Address Family Planning and Climate Change

Large organizations often rely on centralized systems to tackle family planning and climate issues, but these approaches don’t always work effectively. The Fair Start Movement (FSM) and Rejoice Africa Foundation Uganda (RAFUG) use a decentralized system, which leads to more transparent and impactful results for families directly affected by these issues.

A split infographic compares Current Family Planning with Fair Start Family Planning, listing differences in welfare, equality, and environmental protection for children, while highlighting how practices like legitimacywashing can undermine genuine progress.

How Can We Fund These Efforts?

Wealthy nations can adopt this community-driven approach and work with less wealthy countries to share resources, promote birth equity, and support smaller, more sustainable families.

    How Care Groups Work

Rejoice Africa Foundation has set up 20 care groups, each with 20 women led by a community leader. These leaders oversee projects like:

    • Kitchen gardens
    • Child savings programs
    • Family planning education
    • Agroforestry initiatives

Real Stories from Care Group Members

    Immaculate’s Leadership in Rwampara
Immaculate, a care group leader from Bugashe, Rwampara district, has helped women start kitchen gardens, practice sustainable cooking, and engage in family planning discussions. A donor contributed $640 for child savings accounts, enabling RAFUG to create 62 accounts and grants for kitchen gardens. However, financial support from wealthy individuals remains limited.

The Challenges of Family Planning: Ruth’s Story
Komugisha Ruth, a care group member, became pregnant while using the contraceptive Implanon. Struggling to provide for her child, Joan, she now questions parent-centered family planning and wants to delay having another child until she can better support her family.

Jemima’s Journey from Child Bride to Activist
Kabugho Jemima grew up in a poor family of 10 in Western Uganda. Forced into marriage at 16, she later worked as a maid for priests, one of whom sponsored her education in nursing. Now an activist, she fights for women’s rights, reproductive health, and climate-friendly farming. Jemima co-founded the Rejoice Africa Foundation, urging accountability through a reward-based system to combat climate change.

    The Impact of Care Groups

Sixty women across three care groups have successfully built kitchen gardens, growing their own vegetables—even on small plots or using sack farming. Some members now earn $10 per week selling their harvests. This financial independence has helped women like Paskazia, who once engaged in risky survival strategies but now supports her family through farming.

Joy, a mother of three, advises younger women to delay having children until they are better prepared. She shares her struggles during drought and poverty, encouraging others to plan for their children’s future.

Challenging assumptions that hurt our future infographic

Why Care Groups Matter for Reparations

The Care Group model is more than a support system—it’s a path to long-term change. It helps women:

    • Build Community: Women with shared experiences support one another.
    • Gain Education: They learn about reproductive health, nutrition, and financial planning.
    • Develop Skills: Training in income-generating activities promotes financial independence.
    • Advocate for Change: Women collectively push for justice and support.
    • Ensure Sustainability: Community-led initiatives create lasting impact.

A Call to Action for the Wealthy

If more wealthy individuals followed the example of Jessica Blome and invested in Care Groups as part of reparations, donations would be more transparent and accountable. Most importantly, future generations would have a fairer and more sustainable start in life.

  • The Case Against DBL

    The Case Against DBL

Many charities operate without accountability, and DBL has been identified as failing to meet essential standards. Its shortcomings are evident in three key areas:

    1. Prevention

DBL lacks a clear formula to prevent unborn children from facing the impacts of the climate crisis. Without integrating birth entitlements, its approach has led to increased mortality in vulnerable communities. This failure is exemplified by the tragic death of Mbabazi Judith, whose parents lacked the means to prevent her from dying of malaria—highlighting the consequences of symptom-focused, rather than root-cause-driven, charity.

    1. Protection

DBL’s approach to protecting communities from the climate crisis is top-down, rather than empowering families from the ground up. Many nonprofits repeat this mistake by neglecting decentralized family planning reforms, leaving the most affected populations without real solutions.

A split infographic compares Current Family Planning with Fair Start Family Planning, listing differences in welfare, equality, and environmental protection for children, while highlighting how practices like legitimacywashing can undermine genuine progress.

    1. Promotion

Because DBL fails in both prevention and protection, its promotion efforts are ineffective. Instead of advancing universal well-being, it focuses on providing basic needs like food, shelter, and education—without addressing birth equity, wealth redistribution, or reparations. DBL’s model does not meet UN or Fair Start standards, nor does it support true family planning reform.

The Cost of Inaction: Mbabazi Judith’s Story

Mbabazi Judith, a three-year-old from Rutoma village, Uganda, died from malaria and anemia because her family was too poor to afford timely treatment. Her mother, Kansiime Rovina, borrowed money and walked miles to seek care, but Judith passed away before reaching the hospital.

“Judith died because I was poor and did not have money.” – Kansiime Rovina

Challenging assumptions that hurt our future infographic

This tragedy is not an isolated case—it is the result of charitable models that fail to address systemic poverty and health inequalities.

    A Call for Reform

The Women Care Group model, used by the Rejoice Africa Foundation, is based on the 3P standard: Prevention, Protection, and Promotion. We urge DBL and similar organizations to adopt these principles and ensure their charity work addresses root causes rather than temporary relief. Without systemic change, preventable deaths like Judith’s will continue.

  • Fair Starts in Life: Truth and Justice

Fair Starts in Life: Truth and Justice

Address the cause, not the symptom.

Justice starts by asking: How do those claiming wealth, authority, or public impact account for children’s rights at birth—especially political equity – as they made their claims. Just as equity in a company affects value, equity in democracy depends on the number of people, their influence, and the environment. Ignoring this distorts claims of value and impact.

For decades, world leaders assumed entitlements without considering birth equity, fueling today’s crisis. Thinkers like Cass Sunstein and Martha Nussbaum followed suit. Free individuals seeking self-determination must recognize this oversight. Those who deny it exploit unjust birth systems, threatening us all.

Fact: Growth-driven economies violated children’s birth rights, doing more harm than good. Without protections at birth, nations lack legitimacy. This failure has degraded Earth’s ability to support infant health—the only true measure of value.

Fair Start is the only path to just governance. Justice requires measurable birth and development equity, conditioning wealth and authority on empowering people. Fair Start is a permanent method of resisting illegal power.

A split infographic compares Current Family Planning with Fair Start Family Planning, listing differences in welfare, equality, and environmental protection for children, while highlighting how practices like legitimacywashing can undermine genuine progress.

    Why Fair Start?

The Fair Start Movement exposes reparations fraud and holds those responsible accountable. The injustice began decades ago when leaders ignored child welfare, perpetuating systemic inequities. Fair Start demands:

    • Acknowledgment of how birth inequity undermines justice.
    • Wealth and authority tied to ensuring children’s rights.
    • Recognition that constitutions alone don’t form nations—people do, through equitable birth and development conditions.

This isn’t about left vs. right; it’s about legitimate governance versus illegitimacy. Nations that fail to empower constituents create violence, using children as economic inputs rather than future citizens. Those benefiting from unjust systems must pay the debt they owe.

Challenging assumptions that hurt our future infographic

    Truth Over Lies

Reporting public benefit out of context hides rights violations, costing lives and harming economies. Fair Start demands accountability, rejecting the fantasy of social justice built on false entitlements.

Animal justice efforts also fail when ignoring birth equity. Sustainable change starts by treating all humans and animals as part of an interconnected system, ensuring fair starts for all.

The choice is clear: Confront the lies protecting unjust wealth, use those resources to save lives, and ensure true justice.

Do all children deserve a fair start in life? Yes or no?

More Children, and Animals, are Being Abused Then Ever Before. Take action.

The United Nations has recently released a report that finds:

The world is at a “pivotal moment’ as violence against children reaches unprecedented levels worldwide.”

Recently, a Delaware couple sentenced to over 150 years in prison for “indescribable” torture of sons by a judge who called the abuse “the most extensive and persistent evil” he has ever seen.

    Child looking malnourished

Video from surveillance cameras that monitored the large closet where the boys were kept naked and starving in horrific conditions did not tell the entire story of their suffering, the judge said.

At the same time, more animals are being abused than ever before.

That means more animal suffering and dying in factory farms, and more companion animals suffering than ever before.

Abused animal tied to a fence

TAKE ACTION: The fundamental driver of all child and animal abuse is an outdated system of family laws that prevent parents from being ready before they have kids, and encourages large families even in the face of environmental disaster.

Fair Start is moving to ensure the United Nations changes that by treating a Fair Start in life as the first and overriding human right, a right that will override domestic legislation around the world that ensures child  and animal abuse by putting growth over parental readiness and ecological restoration.

The basic rule for having kids should be to be ready, and not have too many.

Will you assist us in taking action to demand the Secretary General of the United Nations admit that his authority derives from empowering those he claims to represent, and that without prioritizing Fair Start as the first human right, he has no authority? Fairness comes first. The Secretary General is the highest symbol of representative government, and if he makes clear the need for Fair Start reforms, change will follow.

The Secretary General should start by admitting that he benefited from an equitywashing system that illegally violated children’s birthrights and did more harm to the UN’s values, goals, and impacts than he did to further them. By doing so, he can move towards the legitimacy of a neutral standard where some do not benefit at deadly cost to others, hiding harm to infants and animals on at least eight levels.

A split infographic compares Current Family Planning with Fair Start Family Planning, listing differences in welfare, equality, and environmental protection for children, while highlighting how practices like legitimacywashing can undermine genuine progress.

    Background

The Secretary General is using  an illegal standard/organizational model fundamentally designed to illegally harm children and animals by exploiting their vulnerability, and undo the value he claims to create in a way that risks millions of lives and will cost businesses trillions of dollars. The standard is illegally benchmarked around the needs of the  wealthy children of leadership, at deadly cost to vulnerable children using a false  assessment and reporting system.

It’s the fundamental reason leadership is being enriched at deadly cost to mostly children of color. This goes beyond greenwashing and humanewashing to a more fundamental system of equitywashing that subverts civil rights and democracy, and allows free-riding benefits at deadly costs to others. He is using the same fundamentally false standard derived from the twentieth-century subversion of racial justice that is causing our current ecological and political crises to hide full liability for them, including harm to freedom and political legitimacy.

The standard has been used by many of the public interest entities claiming to oppose destructive industries, entities that like those industries can show no capacity to actually constitute a just future through empowering relations.

Challenging assumptions that hurt our future infographic

The illegal standard is designed to:

    – Exploit unsustainable growth and levels of consumption that have now reduced the planet’s ability to support infant and animal health, the first objective measure of value.

    – Treat children of color as deserving exponentially less resources and more risk, including the violence inherent in unrepresentative government.

    – Ensure each person has less capacity to influence their political system as democracy is slowly commercialized, in part because it does not derive and condition governmental authority and entitlement to wealth, and obligation to follow the law, on constituents being measurably empowered. And

    – It omits these facts from value claims, hiding conflicts of interest, and the preemptive right to legitimacy reparations that ensure a fair and liberating start in life. This allows the use of wealth made at cost to claimed values and impacts to drown out the efforts of others, through inclusive and constitutive communications, to actually further those values.

We can ask the Secretary Genral: How were you accounting for your work being undone, each day, by violations of children’s birthrights as they entered the world? Would you be willing to derive wealth and authority back, and condition it on, ensuring such birthrights? If you could go back and make that change in our political systems, decades ago, to save millions of lives, would you do it? If you claimed to create value that was being undone by basic inequity, would you not be eager to reform that system and align with your claimed values?
