Are we creating a world in which children are born into more empowering conditions and relationships of power than the generation before them? Racial equity cannot be measured by promises, branding, representation, or public statements alone. It must be measured by whether children inherit safer, healthier, freer, and more empowering conditions.
Many institutions now speak the language of racial equity. But many of those claims never answer the basic question: Are the children and future generations most affected actually becoming more empowered? Without that answer, racial equality becomes a narrative instead of a standard.
Future Black children and disenfranchised future children cannot vote today. But today’s decisions shape the world they will inherit. A legitimate racial equality claim must ask whether the next generation will be born into safer, freer, healthier, and more powerful conditions than the last.
Does the claim improve the conditions into which children and future generations are born? If an institution claims racial equity while ignoring inherited poverty, environmental racism, unsafe housing, family instability, unequal political voice, or future generational harm, the claim is incomplete. Measurable empowerment, not self-description.
